Floretta D. Calhoun
Dec. 25, 1923 - Sept. 20, 2012
Floretta was born and raised in Hazard County, Kentucky, where she met and fell in love with her future husband Walter Calhoun. She was a graduate of Moorehead State and University of Dayton. They had two children prior to moving to Indianapolis in the early 1960's. She started her career as a teacher then moved to Aetna Life and Casualty, retiring after 30+ years. She enjoyed working at Oasis during the week and clogging at the State Fair every year. She loved and cherished her four grandchildren, Jesse, Darrell, Joshua, and Jennifer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter and her beautiful, loving daughter, Cynthia Sue Jordan. She is survived by her sister, Marie McGlone; even though they lived far apart they still kept a loving relationship; her son and her four grandchildren who will always remember the wonderful sense of humor she had, and her wonderful smile. Her grandchildren will always love her and there will not be a day that goes by that they do not think of her. A private memorial will be held.

Floretta was such a warm spirit. She reminded me so much of my own grandmother. I will miss seeing her and getting hugs from her at clogging. Cathy Plummer

I can't believe Floretta will not be clogging with us anymore...I will keep her gracious spirit with me. I hope I can still be clogging when I'm as old as she was!

Such a gracious lady with a sparkle in her eye and a love for dancing. Remembering her from the Indianapolis Senior Center where she clogged and line danced for a while.
