George Spivey Obituary

Dr. George Dillard Spivey Age 69, went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2004. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Rosemary Cameron Spivey and his three children: George Cameron (Denise) Spivey, Bartlett, TN, Emma Catherine Spivey (Mark) Haynes, Sevierville, TN, and Elizabeth Christine Spivey (John) Seibel, Knoxville, TN. As Pappa Spivey, George leaves nine grandchildren: Zachary Ryan Spivey, Olivia Marie Spivey, Hunter William Haynes, Lindsey Rose Seibel, Geordie Cameron Haynes, Mary Elizabeth Seibel, Samuel Paul Haynes, Emily Joanna Seibel, and Jeanne Marie Seibel. George was preceded in death by parents, Carson and Katherine Spivey; brother, Carson Byrd Spivey, Jr.; sister, Sue Elizabeth Elmore. A graduate of Lipscomb University, Peabody College, and The University of Tennessee of Knoxville, Dr. Spivey served as a minister and an educator in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana. Brother George's work in the ministry spanned fifty-three years. He was currently serving as the minister of the Spring Creek Church of Christ in Riceville, TN. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2004 in Bixler Chapel of Madison Church of Christ, Madison, TN. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004 in Bixler Chapel of Madison Church of Christ with Bro. Bill Hassell and Bro. Bob Kerce officiating. Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Goodlettsville, TN. Active Pallbearers, Family and Friends. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Spring Creek Church of Christ, CO Spivey Memorial, 325 County Road 117, Riceville, TN 37370. Arrangements: Affordable, Alternative Funeral Service, (615) 977-4891.
