Jackie J. Scruby, R.N.
64, of Carmel, passed away September 25, 2014. She was born April 23, 1950 in Richmond, IN, to Claud "Bernie" and Mary Lou Banning Winters. Jackie received her Nursing Degree from Marian College. She married David Scruby on September 9, 2011, and was a registered nurse and manager with Indiana Surgery Center for 23 years, retiring in 2014. Her management skills and staff development were lovingly appreciated by all who worked with her.
Jackie loved traveling to the Caribbean, Hilton Head, and California to visit family. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, gardening and spending time at the family lake house on Cordry Lake. Jackie was an avid collector and seller of Longaberger baskets, and an active member of Psi Iota Xi Philanthropic Sorority. Her smile was contagious and lit up the room.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel , 9606 E. Washington St. with funeral services Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.
Jackie is survived by her loving husband, Dr. David Scruby; son, Justin Eden (Natalie); mother, Mary Lou Winters; grandson, Colton Eden; and stepsons, Mike and Nick Scruby. Jackie's father, Bernie Winters, preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jackie Scruby Scholarship Fund, 8040 Clearvista Parkway, Ste. 150, Indianapolis, IN 46256.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Bhatia, Trish Yoder and all the staff at Community North Cancer Center for their excellent and compassionate care.
