John N. Kroetz
84, of Indianapolis, passed away August 19, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elisabeth Koons Kroetz; and their three children, Karol Sparks (Stephen), Sandy Granick (Jeff) and Greg Kroetz (Patti). Mr. Kroetz is also survived by two sisters, Clare Tegarden and Norma Hobbs. John and his wife Elisabeth have eight grandchildren, Courtenay Russo, Ashley Creedon, Kristin Cassamassimo, Austin Sparks, Heather Wing, Cameron Bulman, John Kroetz and Danielle Kroetz; and five great-grandsons.
John was a graduate of Shortridge High School and played Varsity Basketball. He attended Wabash College for two years where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He transferred to the Butler University College of Pharmacy, graduated in 1952 and bought a pharmacy in Cumberland, IN. He opened a second Kroetz Pharmacy a few years later in Oaklandon, IN. In 1971, he bought the Rush and Hebble Co., retiring in 1990.
An avid golfer, John was a member of Hillcrest, Old Oakland and Eastlake Woodlands (Palm Harbor, FL) Country Clubs. He was also a member of Indianapolis Gyro Club and was a past president of the Indianapolis Association of Retail Pharmacists.
Visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:30 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fish ers-Castleton Chapel , 9900 Allisonville Rd.
