John W. Matthewson, Jr.
78 of New Palestine, Indiana passed away November 26, 2012. He was born on March 1, 1934 in Indianapolis, the son of John w. and Delpha Matthewson, Sr. He retired from working in the pump room at Ford Motor Co. after of 40 years of service. John served with the 82nd. Airborne of the U S Army during the Korean War and attended Church 52. Survivors: wife, Kathy Matthewson; daughters, Carol (Everett) Mitchell, Scherrie (Jeff) Golden And Rhonda (Gene) Perkins; son, James Matthewson; brother, Jerry Matthewson; grandchildren, Brian Mitchell, Glenn Mitchell, Kim Forgue, Scott Golden, Jason Golden, John Tunell, Melissa Matthewson and Jordan Matthewson; 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Matthew Stow and Amanda Tunell.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan - Washington Park East 10722 E. Washington St. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, November 30, 2012 at the funeral center. Entombment, Washington Park East Cemetery. Grandpa, You taught me how to ride a bike and how to drive despite the way I drove the Cadillac into the field. You had to tie my left foot to the seat to get me to learn and I'll never forget that especially since I've been driving ever since. I'll miss you.......
