John Musk Obituary

John Gordon Musk 85, of Indianapolis, passed away November 2, 2006. He was born January 28, 1921, in Danville, Illinois. He retired in 1983 as the Food Service Director at St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, Illinois. He also worked as Food Service Director for the St. Louis Football Cardinals, Chicago Bulls, and Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois. He owned KaMar Restaurant in Chicago. He was married to the late Marian Satterwhite Musk for 65 years. He was a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church, where he was an active participant in the Tandem Club and as a Deacon. He was a resident of Marquette Manor in Indianapolis. He volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital and Community Hospital North. He enjoyed horse racing and had not missed opening day at Keeneland Race Track for 20 years. He was a member and student at the Indianapolis Art Center and was a recognized and award-winning artist, specializing in watercolors. In retirement he taught watercolor painting. He also enjoyed golf and was a former member and general manager of Hubbard Trail Country Club in Hoopeston, Illinois. He is survived by daughters, Martha (Larry) Musk Robertson and Catherine (Dennis) Musk Southerland; 7 grandchildren, Ryan Speers (Indianapolis) and his friend Jennifer Hall, Cathy Speers (Ed) Hasecke (Springfield, OH) Lisa (Brett) Daugherty (Indianapolis), Adam Southerland (Indianapolis), Jill (Brian) Nugent (Chicago), Katie Southerland and her friend, Kyle Luck (Indianapolis), Carrie Southerland (Indianapolis), and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, with calling at 9:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northminster Presbyterian Church or St. Vincent Hospice. Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center-Broad Ripple is handling arrangements.
