I worked with John at the VA for many years and considered him a good friend. He was always available to help when ever and how ever he could; both at work and away from work. He was one of the rare individuals who always had a smile on his face and he could always bring a smile to yours as well. I never met anyone who didn't like him and enjoy being around him. My only regret is that he and I didn't get to take a motorcycle ride together this year , as we had discussed, due to scheduling and health issues. He will be missed by all who knew him. My deepest sympathies John's family. He was a great man and I am hoping in the days to come that will bring you some measure of comfort. John was exceptionally proud of his children and never hesitated to give me an update if I asked. I can honestly say that John was one of those people that everyone enjoyed being around. You couldn't help but like him as soon as you met him. John was a great man, not because he did great things, but because he was a regular guy with a great big heart. He always took the time to stop and speak with me whether he was busy or not. He would always say "how's Barb today?" He had great love for his parents and siblings and would tell stories of crazy things he did with them as kids. He would have everybody laughing until our sides ached. We would give him and Delbert such a hard time at work because where you saw one you would see the other.
I have so many good memories of John and I will miss him so much.
God bless and keep you all during this time of great sadness.
