John O. Winningham

John O. Winningham Age 80, Greenfield, passed away Friday, July 8, 2005. John was a WWII Navy Veteran and served on the Carrier Roosevelt. He was a loyal and active member of Emerson Avenue Baptist Church, Scottish Rite, and Cumberland Lodge #726, F. & A.M.. John was a longtime employee of WRTV, formerly WFBM radio and TV. He retired in 1987 after 36 years as an Operations and Maintenance Engineer, specializing in the construction and installation of broadcast equipment. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., with visitation Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Freida; daughter, Patti Hooker; grandchildren, Scott Winkler, Kim Bradley, Tim Hooker, C.J. Winkler; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Bruce and Edsel Winningham; and sisters, Bobbie Freije and Jennie Riggen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Lydia Winningham; daughter, Dena K. Winkler; and brother, Gerald Winningham.
