Judith Layne George 67, of Indianapolis, fell asleep in the Lord on November 2, 2010. Judy was born on December 28, 1942 and graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1961, where she was a cheerleader from 1959 to 1961. She worked at Pleasant Run Elementary for many years and was an active member of St. George Christian Orthodox Church. Judy's greatest gifts were her faith, her ability to live a life to love and serve others, and her devotion to her family and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Irene Smith; and her sister, Mary Marchetti. She is survived by her husband, Dave; brother, Dick Smith; sons, Dave (Lelia), Randy (Pam) and Jeff (Teresa); and 13 grandchildren, David, Haley, Stacey, Brittney, Lindsey, Michael, Randy, Megan, Kaitlyn, Don, Jeffrey, Jordan, Jayden; and one great grandson, Keefer; mother-in-law, Ruth George, three brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Judy's sincere faith and her love of church, family, and friends was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be missed by her many relatives and friends. We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and the entire staff of Clarian West Medical Center for the wonderful care and compassion given to Judy during this past year. We are grateful for the fine care given by Dr. Anthony Rose and Dr. Brad Erickson. We are also grateful to the nurses and entire staff at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home, where Judy was taken care of for nine months. God bless you all at Lakeview Manor and Clarian West, you epitomize the word compassion. The George family is also thankful to have had Dr. Greg Spurgin as Judy's internal medicine doctor. Dr. Spurgin was there to take care of Judy at Clarian West and during her time at Lakeview Manor. Dr. Spurgin, you are indeed a rare gift from God. We would also like to thank Dr. George Sledge, Judy's oncologist, for his wonderful care and also Dr. Tom Schmidt from the Breast Care Center of Indiana.
