Lawrence A. Poston Sr.

Lawrence "Larry" A. Poston, Sr., 69, Indianapolis, departed this earthly life on March 31, 2011. Having attended IPS, he was a 1959 graduate of Crispus Attucks High School and earned a degree from Purdue University. An honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army, he was active in the community as a Boy Scout Troop Leader; CAAP Board of Directors, having served as President 1985 & 1986 and the Butler-Tarkington Neighborhood Association. He was a security officer at MEPSFort Harrison. Previously he was Director of Public Safety for Simon Malls and Regional Sales Director at Standard Distributors. He was the proud owner of Genesis Beauty Supply, Genesis Convenient Store, Wigs by Genesis, Genesis Security, Inc. and a Distributor of Madame Walker Beauty Products. On Tuesday, April 5, there will be visitation from 4-8pm at Stuart Mortuary Chapel with Celebration of Life service on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 11am at Good Samaritan Baptist Church, 608 East 22nd St. with interment at Washington Park Cemetery-North. He is survived by his wife, Karen Mockabee-Poston; children, Larry A. (Tami) Poston, Anthony C. Poston, Sr. and Kimberly M. Bentley; grandchildren, Anthony C., Jr., Kesaia, Khadijah, Kamilah and Khayri Poston; great grandson, Anthony C. Poston, III; siblings, James T. Poston, Sr., Harry Eugene (Janet) Poston, Sr., Charles Early, Mark (Stephanie) Early, Teresa Scott and Donna Early, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
