Marie Gibson Cromer
92, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2012. She was born in Barnsley, Yorkshire, England and came to the U.S. in 1951 to work for the DuPont family. Marie later worked for U.S. Air Force Col. Sam Smith's family at Barksdale A.F. Base in Louisiana, where she met and married the late Carl E. Cromer, of Salem, Indiana.
She is survived by her daughter, Juanita (Cromer) Johnson (Michael Johnson) and step-grandchildren, Justin Johnson, Alexandra Johnson, and Riley Johnson.
She was retired from American Fletcher National Bank as waitress to the Bank's officers in the Executive Dining Rooms. Marie proudly became an American citizen in 1986 and was a member of the Transatlantic Brides and Parents' Association, and American Legion Auxiliary at Speedway Post 500. She loved people, music, ballroom dancing, cooking and baking and socializing.
In lieu of a memorial service, Marie's wishes were that her friends and family hold their own celebrations of her life, and remember her with a smile. Marie was grateful for The Salvation Army during the war, and would like any memorial contributions be made to them in her name.
