Mary K. Mathews

Mary Kathryn Mathews 87, formerly of Castleton, died May 31, 2006, in Boulder, CO. The daughter of Millard Lawson and Marie Starnes Lawson, she was born Sept. 2, 1918, in Owen County. She married Atlee Mathews Jan. 30, 1938, in Anderson, IN. She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store in Castleton for 23 years. Mrs. Mathews moved to Boulder in September 2000. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Rebekahs, she enjoyed bowling, films and bingo. "Mary was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend". Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Rush, Boulder; a sister, Betty Sue Lawson Lobraico, Indianapolis; grandsons, Mathew Rush and his wife Cathy, Aurora, CO.; and Brian Rush, Longmont, CO; great-grandsons, Aaron and Ryan Rush, Aurora, CO; nieces, Kay, Arleen, Judy, Mary, Jane, and Nancy; nephews, Dale, Larry, Bob, Mike, Joe, and Glen; and her special friend, Mike Royce, Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Paul and Max; sisters, Anna Mae and Barbara; and her nephew, John. Visitation, 1 p.m., Thursday, Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, with graveside to follow at 2 p.m.
