Michael O'Brien Obituary
Greenwood - Michael V. "Mike" O'Brien, Sr., 77 of Greenwood passed away on August 3, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born in Indianapolis on September 14, 1940 to the late James J. O'Brien, Sr. and Anna T. O'Brien.
Mike was a 1959 graduate of Cathedral High School and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Mike is preceded in passing by his wife, Peggy O'Brien; his sister, Patricia Norton; brothers, James J. O'Brien, Jr., John T. "Jack" O'Brien, and Bernard "Bernie" O'Brien; sister in laws, Beatrice O'Brien, Betty Jo O'Brien, Marilyn Sue O'Brien, and Kay O'Brien and nephew, Christopher O'Brien.
Mike is survived by his son, Michael V. O'Brien, Jr.; daughter, Jill A. Fanning; son in law, Larry J. Fanning; grandsons, Jon Michael (Rachel) O'Brien, and Logan J. O'Brien; granddaughter, Alexandria M. Fanning; brothers, Robert O'Brien, and Thomas O'Brien; sisters, Mary O'Brien, and Barbara Minatel; brother in law, Joseph Minatel; sister in law, Patricia O'Brien and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mike loved and cherished his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Rd., Indianapolis, IN with final resting at Holy Cross Cemetery, 435 W. Troy Ave. Indianapolis,IN.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Catholic Church.

We are so sorry for your loss. Mike was a kind, loving and generous man. It was a blessing to know him. We were so happy to see him recently and I know he was so happy to celebrate with the graduate. He will be greatly missed but will remain in our hearts forever.
-Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday. Still loved, Still missed, and Very dear.

I had the great pleasure of working with your Dad with one of our shared clients. He truly was one of the most kind, generous, polite gentleman. He ALWAYS had a warm smile and treasured his family. There is no doubt all of his loved ones greeted him into heaven on Friday and he is now painfree celebrating eternal life with our glorious Father. (He may even be setting up Notre Dame winning a championship this year)
