Otto Beyers Obituary

Otto "Banton" Beyers 83, of Fortville passed away on September 22, 2009. He was born on August 1, 1926 in Hobbieville to the late Joe and Lottie (Carmichael) Beyers and graduated from Fortville High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Banton was also an active member and past elder of the Fortville Christian Church, serving in many capacities including the Mission Committee. He founded and served as Director of Men for Christ. Mr. Beyers is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Dorothea E. (Holt) Beyers; daughters, Diana C. Beyers of Fortville, Beverly Fournet of Fortville and Mary (Alan) Kelly of Brownsburg; John W. (Wanda) Holt of Fortville; sisters-in-law, Georgina Beyers and Jesse Beyers; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Rex, Ralph, Herbert, Eugene and Joe Jr.; and sister Eunice Garsnett. Calling will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday September 24, 2009 at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 25, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville, where graveside military rights will be performed. Memorial donations may be made to the Fortville Christian Church Mission Committee or the Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences may be shared at: sealsfuneralhome.com
