Paul Davis

Rushville, IN - Paul W. Davis' spirit passed on to join his Heavenly Father on April 13, 2018. He was peacefully at home with his loving family around him.

Born in Rushville, on March 16, 1928 to Keller and Nettie (Mynheir) Davis, both deceased. Paul attended the Booker T Washington Elementary School and Rushville High School. After school he joined the Navy and was a US Navy Veteran. He worked for Rex Manufacturing, Philco, Philco Ford and Ford Aerospace for 48 years, retiring in 1995.

Paul was a lifetime member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He held offices such as Chairman of the Trustees, Chairman of the Administrative Board, Chairman of Finance, member of the Pastor Parish and was the Lay Leader of the church. He also held the office of the District Trustee for the South District of the Methodist Church. He loved to sing and was a member of the church choir and was the churches "Luther VanDross". The Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church awarded a Certificate of Recognition for his outstanding service and leadership as Administrative Board Chairperson, Trustee Chairperson, Lay Leader, member of the Pastor Parish Committee, Finance Committee and United Methodist Men serving our Lord Jesus Christ through the Rushville Wesley United Methodist Church. Granted on this day ,16th of March, 2018. Paul was the Postmaster of Oriental Lodge #42 and held several other offices within the organization. He was in the Civil Defense for several years serving under Pat Todd. He also was a member of The American Legion Post #150. In 1993, along with Mrs. Martha Jones, they donated the Booker T Washington building to the city. More recently he served as a Board Member of ICAP. A Proclamation was given by The Honorable Mayor of the City of Rushville hereby deemed it an honor and pleasure to extend a Certificate of Recognition to Paul Davis on the occasion of his 90th Birthday, with sincere congratulations and best wishes for many more happy, productive years in the future. In Testimony Whereof, the Mayor set his hand and caused to be affixed the great seal of the City of Rushville, at the Mayor's Office, this 17th day of March, 2018 He was presented by the Mayor the Knowles Shaw, Rush County Resident highest ranking medallion for outstanding community service ever presented to a resident of Rushville, IN

In his spare time he loved to do carpentry, remodeling and building a variety of items. He also loved landscaping his yard, maintenancing his pool and planting flowers.

Paul was the father of six children. His two oldest children Carol Marie Jenkins-Davis and Larry Eugene Davis have preceded him in death. Also, preceding him in death were 6 sisters and 4 brothers. His surviving children are Paulette Milton of Rushville, IN, Patricia (James) Howard of Overland Park, KS., Robert (Janice) Davis of Indianapolis, IN., and Laura Davis of Rushville, IN. He was the grandfather of 16, great grandfather of 25, and great -great grandfather 3. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews and friends. He is also survived by his youngest brother William G. Davis.

The Family would like to thank Premier Hospice and staff for their care and kindness.



Visitation will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Wesley United Methodist Church 627 E. 8th St. Rushville, IN from 4:00pm - 8:00pm with a reception in the church dining hall. The funeral services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Moster Mortuary, 334 N. Main, Rushville, IN starting at 11:00 am with Rev.'s Mary Downs & Irvin French presiding. Burial will in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery on US 44.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carol Jenkins - Davis Community Park through the RCCF or to the American Lung Association.
