Philip Robert Cesnik

Indianapolis - Philip Robert Cesnik passed away on Mar. 15th, 2018. He was born and raised in the Haughville section of Indianapolis by his parents Martin and Theresa "Rose" (Udovic). He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church from birth until its closing. In 1950, Phil was drafted and went on to drive tanks with the 4th Infantry Division in Frankfurt, West Germany where he developed a lifelong taste for German cookies and beer.

In 1953 after returning stateside, he married his wife of nearly 65 years Phyllis (Lambert). Together they raised their five children in Speedway. He went on to work for nearly four decades as a cable splicer technician with Indiana Bell and was a union member of the Communication Workers of America. Phil was an avid player of crossword puzzles which helped keep his mind sharp up until the very end, though when his nurses wanted to test him they knew better than to ask him the name of the current president of the United States.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Rose and his elder siblings Julia, Paul, Anthony, Rose, Martin, Louis, Thelma, and an unnamed infant sibling. He is survived by his wife Phyllis; children George, Jeffrey, Jeaninne Venne (Gerald), Matthew (Fernanda), and Lawrence; grandchildren Matthew and Abigail Cesnik; Mary, Timothy, and Christopher Venne, and Martin and Christina Cesnik; and many nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Phil's wishes, no service will be held. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a future date.
