Richard Ingwell Obituary

Richard H. Ingwell, Ph.D. Died May 6, 2010 in his home after an extended illness. Dr. Ingwell, 80, was born April 2, 1930, in Blanchardville, Wisc., to the late William Hobart and Inez Burles Swenson Ingwell. He was preceded in death by his sister, Clarice McPherson. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Anna Mary Ingwell; his daughter, Kristin J. Ingwell Goode, his son-in-law Christopher Goode; two grandchildren, William and Abigail Goode, and his devoted caregiver, Tammy Price Terry. Dr. Ingwell was a member of the Blanchardville High School Class of 1948, received a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin in 1964, a M.S. in Counseling and Behavior studies from UW in 1966, and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1971. He was a career psychologist working with veterans at the Richard L. Roudebush Hospital in Indianapolis where he was employed for more than 20 years. In 1977 he was named the Professional Federal Employee of the Year. He was devoted to his patients and many stayed in contact with him after his retirement. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 4600 N. Illinois Street, followed by a funeral mass led by Fr. Steve Schwab at 11 a.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the University of Wisconsin Foundation, U.S. Bank Lockbox, PO Box 78807, Milwaukee, WI 53278-0807. Arrangements are in the care of Family Funeral Care.
