Richard Ponti Obituary

Richard "Dick" Perry Ponti 68, died on April 23, 2005 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on November 9, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Mary "Peg" Ponti. Dick married the late Carol Lois (Soika) Ponti on April 22, 1967. He is survived by his four children; Rick (Ann) of Brownsburg, Indiana, Rob of Littleton, Colorado, Chris of Indianapolis, Indiana and Sue Ponti Nagy (Dan) of Elmhurst, Illinois, and his brother Robert Ponti (Linda) of Dallas, Texas along with his two nieces Tara Ponti Sinco (Russell) of Montgomery, Alabama and Jennifer Ponti Ashby (Danny) of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by his wife Ruth and her three children, Mike Morrison (Heather) of Fishers, Indiana, Jon Morrison (Tanya) of Chicago, Illinois, and David Morrison (Amy) of Detroit, Michigan. Additional survivors include his eight grandchildren, Hanna, Kate, and Nicholas Ponti along with Kyle, Mara, Cade, Alex, and Lydia Morrison. Dick was a 1958 graduate of Purdue University. While at Purdue, he was a member of Lamda Chi Alpha Fraternity. After several years in the workforce, Dick attended Officer Candidate School (OCS) and subsequently had a successful commission as an officer of the United States Navy. After fulfilling has commitment to the United States Navy, Dick worked at A..M. International for over 30 years, retiring in 1996 as Regional Manager. Dick will be remembered by all as a loving and devoted father, husband and friend. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2005 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Zionsville with visitation from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery, Zionsville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Oncology Center, 8301 Harcourt Road Indianapolis, Indiana 46260.
