Mr. Jessup, 71, died at his Indianapolis home on Sunday, August 10, 2003. Mr. Jessup began life on a family farm in rural Henry County on August 26, 1931. He graduated from Kennard High School in 1949, earned a B.A. from Indiana University in 1953, and from 1953-1955 served in the U.S. Army. After graduating from Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington in 1958, Mr. Jessup moved to Indianapolis and began a forty-five year career with Baker & Daniels Law Firm. He enjoyed his work as a Probate Tax Attorney, which allowed him to solve challenging problems and help others in time of need. He retired as Senior Partner in 2001 but continued at the firm Of Counsel. In addition to his professional duties, he used his legal expertise as a board member of Jameson Camp and The Children's Museum. He served the Little Red Door as Director and President. He also found time for Park Tudor School and the Children's Bureau. This community service is an example of his loving generosity, familiar to his family and friends. Mr. Jessup's loved ones remember his sense of humor and passion for books, travel, good food, golf, gardening, and house repair. Those close to him also recall his determination that inspired him, after a 1979 heart attack, to begin a regimen of two-mile daily walks. Those treasuring his memories include his widow, Florence Redding Jessup; children, Elizabeth Redding Jessup, Benjamin Lowell Jessup, Jonathan Redding Jessup; his daughters-in-law, Catherine Jessup and Judith Jessup; his grandchildren, Matthew Robert Jessup and Carly Ann Jessup (at the time of his death, Mr. Jessup was awaiting the birth of his third grandchild); his brothers, John Jessup and Max Jessup; his sisters, Martha Smalley, Iris Montgomery, Sara Broadwater, Dorothy Riggs, Nancy Pennington, Eleanor Painter and Joy Woodruff.
