Sally Gambs Obituary
Indianapolis - Sally Johannah Kirby Gambs, 76, of Indianapolis, formerly of Lafayette, died Monday September 7.
Born in Indianapolis to Jane Newcomer Kirby and James Thomas Kirby on May 17, 1944.
Sally attended St Agnes Academy in Indianapolis, Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati and St Francis College in Health Education. She taught at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Health Education, was a Tippecanoe County Schools Head Nurse, volunteered at Wabash Center in Lafayette and at St Elizabeth Hospital Hospice program. She was a self-proclaimed expert in head lice exams during her tenure as a school nurse.
She is survived by 3 children. Gretchen Gambs Miller (Todd), Logansport. Michelle Gambs, Indianapolis. Jack Gambs (Sara), Indianapolis. 6 grandchildren, Eberle Miller, London UK, Cecilia Miller, Auburn AL, Grace Rohen, Chicago, Charlie Rohen, Crown Point, Elliott and Oliver Gambs, Indianapolis. As well as 3 sisters, Kaky Kinghorn, Indianapolis, Christine Kirby, California, and half-sister Michele McCarty, Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her twin, Shary Quick and sister Michelle (Aurora Sanchez) Kirby.
A private family celebration will be held at a later date.

SALLY AND I WERE FRIENDS FROM ST. THOMAS ACQUINAS GRADE SCHOOL THROUGH ST. AGNES THROUGH GOOD SAMARITAN SCHOOL OF NURSING. MY FONDEST MEMORIES WERE GRADE SCHOOL AND ALL OUR FUN ANTICS! SHE WAS SUCH A FUN FRIEND!!! SHE WAS FULL OF ADVENTURE AND MISCHIEF!! THOSE WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF GROWING UP WITH SALLY WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED!! LUCY

Sally had the most infectious laugh!
I first met Sally and Sherry the summer before our freshman year at their house on Washington Blvd. The Kirby girls fascinated me! They were good students and popular.
I saw Sally at the celebration for Meg Kerber’s mother who was 100.
I enjoyed seeing and visiting with Sally very much. I pray she is at peace.
I’m so sorry for your family, and Kaky, who was always there for her younger sisters. This is a lovely picture of Sally! God bless her and all your family.
