Salvatore Gioe Obituary

Salvatore A. "Tony" Gioe Frankenmuth, MI, passed away Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Frankenmuth Lutheran Home, age 88 years. Salvatore was born May 15, 1919 in St. Louis, MO to the late Antonio (Frances Arri) Gioe. He was married to Marjorie Woempner on November 3, 1945, she survives. Salvatore was a plasterer by trade. He and his brother owned a general contracting company in Indianapolis. He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 10:15 a.m. in the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St., Frankenmuth, MI and 11 a.m. in St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark D. Brandt and Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate. Burial will take place between services, in St. Lorenz Cemetery. Salvatore's family will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Habitat for Humanity or Lutheran High School, Indianapolis. Survivors include three sons and a daughter, Chris (Louise) Gioe of Frankenmuth, MI, Timothy (Diane) Gioe of Chicago, IL, Terence (Nancy) Gioe of St. Paul, MN, Cecelia (Richard) Durham of Baltimore, Maryland; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers, Rosalia Henneke, Angeline Winegar, Caroline Elrod, Phillip Gioe and Carley Gioe and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
