Sarah Jackson Obituary

Sarah Jane "Sally" Jackson Died on Sunday, April 11, 2010. She was born January 13, 1922 in Ottawa, IL. Her late husband, Capt. Robert O. Jackson, passed away in 2004. Survivors include sons Robert O. Jackson, Jr. of Indianapolis, Thomas H. (Carrie) Jackson of Brown County, grandchildren William Scott Jackson, Elizabeth McEvoy Jackson and Grace Ann Jackson of Brown County. A resident of Indianapolis for more than 55 years, Sally was a dedicated and passionate community leader. She was past president of the Junior League of Indianapolis, and received the League's first Member of the Year award in 1998. Other boards she served on include the Indianapolis Retirement Home Board, Day Nursery Jr. Auxiliary, Methodist Hospital Task Core and more. Sally also served as Secretary of the Central Indiana Tennis Association, part of the Washington Township Junior Tennis program. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Sally developed many friendships through her years of serving. She especially treasured her "Sewing Club" girlfriends; who met regularly for more than 40 years. Visitation will be Sunday, April 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. with a memorial service at 5 p.m. in Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Broad Ripple. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Junior League Endowment Fund or the Indianapolis Jr. Tennis Development Fund.
