Sophia Carmichael Obituary

Sophia Marie Carmichael 46, of Zionsville, went home to join her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, July 11, 2008. She was born December 8, 1961 in Indianapolis the daughter of George C. and Colleen M. Theofanis. A travel agent for Sycamore Travel for many years, Sophie left the business in 1994 to marry and start a family. A loving wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 13 years, William B. Carmichael and their daughter, Megan M., age 12. Also surviving are her parents, George & Colleen Theofanis; sister, Stephanie (Frank) Beatty; brother, Anthony (Mary); a nephew and three nieces. Sophie battled breast cancer for almost 12 years. While that was a feat unto itself, more importantly was how she did it. With courage, humor and a faith which grew stronger by the day, Sophie loved Christ, her family and others, in that order. She complained seldom, accepted her trial with humbleness and finished like a champion. She touched all who came in contact with her and her smile seldom went unreturned. Always a kind word for others, she never sought the spotlight, rather wishing for it to shine elsewhere. Her absence in this world leaves a hole which will be impossible to fill. Her family acknowledges the outstanding medical care she received over the past years without which their cherished time with her would surely have been shortened. A devoted member of College Park Church, visitation will be held there on Tuesday, July 15th from 3:00 - 7:00pm. A Celebration of Life will also be held at College Park Church on Wednesday, July 16th at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to College Park Church, 2606 W. 96th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46268 or the Indianapolis Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Zions ville.
