Teresa Huckleberry

Indianapolis - 67, passed away December 14, 2020. She was born in Lebanon, IN on September 9, 1953; daughter of Phyllis Joan (Wilcox) White and the late Raymond Earl White.

Teresa was a 1971 graduate of Lebanon High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science, Biology, and Deaf Education from Ball State University and Masters of Science Degree, Secondary Education, Biology, Deaf Education from Butler University.

Teresa retired as a high school science teacher for the Indiana School for the Deaf, and she was pivotal in developing unique learning opportunities for her students. She won Indiana's 1994 Christa McAuliffe Fellowship and earned her pilot license and flight instructor certification to establish an aviation training program for her students. She became an Education Ambassador for NASA and a scuba instructor. During summers, Teresa served as an Interpreter/Program Facilitator for Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Teresa's recognitions include Outstanding Earth Science Teacher Award for the state of Indiana and the Central States Region, Anne Morrow Lindbergh K-12 Aerospace Educator of the Year Award, Sagamore of the Wabash, Sertoma Service to Mankind Award, Golden Apple Award, Christa McAuliffe Fellowship, and Frank G. Brewer Award for Aerospace Educator of the Year.

Teresa was a remarkable person, sewing instructor, photographer, gardener, musician, technologist, astronomer, traveler, naturalist, artist, cook, and mentor. She lived her dreams and blessed many lives.

Teresa is survived by her spouse, Greg, whom she married on the 3rd of June, 1984. Additional survivors include: mother, Phyllis White of Lebanon; son, Brian Curran; stepchildren, Shawn (Dana) Huckleberry, Melanie (Dwayne) Handlon:step-grandchildren, Amber, Mitchell, Gabriel (Shawn), Shelby, Faith, Dustin (Melanie); siblings, Sharon Ann (Larry) Cantor, Kathy Jo (Danny) Eno, Ray Earl (Channa) White, II, Ralph Benton (Lesa) White.

Private Family Funeral Services are December 21, 2020 at 1 PM at Myers Mortuary, in Lebanon, IN. Streaming of the service is available on Myers Mortuary Facebook page at time of service. No visitation will be held.

Interment will be at Geetingsville Cemetery in Clinton County, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to a charity of your choice. Online condolences: myersmortuary.com
