Thelma Wilds Obituary

Thelma Wilds

1931-2016. Thelma Wilds, lovingly known as "T for Trouble" to friends and family, left this world on February 2, 2016. Her life was full of great love, great adventure, and numerous cocktail hours. Not one to mince words, she often stood out in a crowd. She loved convertibles, and hated being out of vodka. Her wit and candor will be missed by many.

Her life began on February 27, 1931 in Cincinnati, OH. She was the youngest of three sisters, often referred to by others as: "Those good lookin' Lawrence girls." Losing her father at a young age taught her an early lesson in resilience. She became a watcher of people in absence of parental guidance, and grew to be a shrewd judge of character. She was famous for her unapologetic honesty, and often joked that she graduated from the "The School of Hard Knocks." This is not to say she didn't know how to have fun. Quite the contrary, she had the kind of humor only adversity can supply.

In 1951 she followed her first husband to England, where she gave birth to their son, Michael "Mac" McMullen. Eventually, tired of life abroad, T made it back to Ohio and gave birth to her second child in 1957, a daughter, Michelle McMullen. She again followed her husband to Indianapolis, or as she fondly referred to it, India-no-place. This "no place" is where she would have her greatest adventure yet, and where she would meet her second husband, Robert Wilds. T did not start living until she met her second husband. Their love was deep and strong, and they were the kind of couple you couldn't ignore. Together they gathered many lifelong friendships, traveled, and loved to entertain. Eventually, T made one last move to Paradise Valley, Arizona. This time she did not follow anyone. She moved for the endless summer days and the grand view of Camelback Mountain. She found a little piece of paradise and the man she loved followed her. They spent the rest of their lives enjoying cocktail hour, which they did every evening without fail, on a patio in the desert or reclined in the comfort of their familiar Indianapolis overlooking the lake.

Mrs. Wilds is survived by her two children, Michael McMullen (Beth) and Michelle McMullen, and her step-daughters Sharry Doiron (Bob) and Shirley Bryant. T had five grandchildren, Morgan Davis, Ross McMullen, Cerelle McMullen, Kendra York, and Rob Bryant; and three great-grandchildren, Zane York, Caden York and Beckett York. She is also survived by her sisters, Loraine Dusina and Gloria Clark.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 1 p.m, at Crown Hill Funeral Home with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Society or Boston Terrier Rescue Group. My grandmother was one of a kind. She made me stronger. She made me laugh. She gave me confidence. She made me a better dresser.

She showed me what it meant to be a woman. Her influence will last throughout the rest of my life. I can't remotely express the love I have for her or how grateful I am for her guidance.

T will be sorely missed by all who passed through her life. Her loving husband, and my best friend, Robert W. Wilds passed on August 31, 2014. The parties can now begin in heaven as they are reunited. Back on horseback, or 4 wheelers, or dancing to country music, these two belong together and now they are. A cause for celebration not sadness.
While I will miss them deeply, I will remember the many times we spent together all of which were marked by laughter, love and bon homme. Rest in peace both of you. You were each very unique and as a couple were extraordinary.
Heaven is a better place with you two residing there. I'll be joining you in the not too distant future and I look forward to the reunion.
I will remember and love you forever.
Your Pard

T's story was beautifully written and told the story of a gracious, beautiful and classy lady. She will be missed by many but she was loved by many. I am privileged to be able to call her my friend. I'll see her again. My heart and prayers go to her family....
