Dear Dorothy,
I just discovered Andy's obituary earlier today and am so saddened. I have many fond memories of making the trek to your home when in Philadelphia, enjoying coffee, watching the finches, nudging the dogs and sharing great conversations. Andy's warmth and welcoming smile will always stay with me. He is as much a part of Philadelphia and our extended family as anyone. Please accept our condolences.
Love,
Tom and June Zimmerman

Dear Dorothy:
We were very saddened to hear about Andrew. We always talk about him and did this weekend during the Grammy's and Neil Young! I want to thank you both for how wonderful you both were when you came into John's life. It was pretty incredible after all these years to meet a family he never knew. And the awesome part about it was his family was so open to being part of our life. John said it was great because he meshed so well with his cousin Andrew. Something our family can cherish forever. We will keep you in our prayers and thoughts Dorothy. Take care of yourself.
Love,
Bonnie Kelly

I never had the pleasure of meeting Andy but being a fellow photo friend on Flickr,
I could tell by his images that he was
passionate and caring about what he loved.

I'm going to miss Andy so much. He was such an amazing guy in his ability to be up beat every time I met him. Such a great photographer. An eye for amazing shots. He also had no problems walking up to anyone and talking. Had such a way of being just his own down to earth, charismatic self. He's going to be missed.

I had met Andy on a few scheduled occasions with some local friends to take and talk photos but also saw him from time to time at local events in West Philly or just around town in the city. He was always a warm, friendly guy who wouldn't hesitate to take time out of his own routine to just walk and talk, share tips and advice or just tell great stories from his past. My condolences to his extended family.

Dorothy,
We never met, but Andy and I became friends over the years in the online photo community Flickr. I had him over at my house several times for gatherings and we shared many conversations on photowalks through the city. His stops into Reading Terminal (my day job) to chat were always wonderful. His smile and irrepressibly cheery demeanor will be dearly missed.

Dorothy -
I am so sorry for your loss and I'm sorry we've lost touch over the years. I never knew Andrew, but from what I've read, we are kindred spirits.

Going on a photo shoot with Andy was a great experience. His boundless energy and enthusiasm were endless. I remember when we were in East Falls with a bunch of photographers we saw a house with an open door and interesting objects in the foyer. Andy walked in and the house owner gave us a tour--only later did we find out Andy didn't know her but was just curious. He assumed a warm welcome from everyone and he usually seemed to get it.
I will miss him.

Dorothy,
Knowing Andrew has been one of the most joyous pleasures of my life. You and Andrew were my "favorites" as you were both ol' hippies like me.
Andrew and I were both collectors---almost anything-- and our passion knew no bounds. We went to trade shows, flea markets and odds and ends stores looking for that next "find". Our time together was precious and well spent.
Andrew was a gem in a world of pebbles.
My life is now emptier without Andrew. But now Dorothy, I have you to visit and tell tall stories to.
With tender thoughts and heartfelt prayers I wish you Love.

Uncle Andy was always the most creative person I knew. I will miss him and his unique view of the world and life in general. He taught quiet lessons by how he lived. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Our prayers are with you Aunt Dorothy. May God Bless and keep you.

Uncle Andy,
You are one of the kindest, selfless, and most enjoyable people I have ever known. My children need to look no further than you and how you lived life for an awesome role model to emulate.

Artist
-noun
"A person whose work shows exceptional creative ability or skill"
Besides being a patient, kind, gentle, generous and thoughtful uncle to all of his nieces and nephews, the thing that struck most people that knew him was his appreciation of, love for, and ability to create art. Be it photography or sculpture, or just about any other artistic medium. He could see art in places and things that most people couldn't, until he brought it out and into the light.
Those are just a few things that I will remember about my Uncle Andy.
The world has lost a truly special man. Those of us that were lucky enough to know and love him understand that.

Dear Dorothy,
I have always and will continue to admire Andrew's outlook on life. Years ago I said something to Andrew about later in the week and he said that's too far away and laughed. My first thought, when I think of Andrew is to enjoy the present and let the future be. His love of the outdoors, East Falls history and our city will be remembered fondly. Dorothy, I am so sorry. You will always be one, Dorothy and Andrew.
Love,
Kathy
