BENTLEY
ARLENE T. "BONNIE", 75, died at her home in Freedom Village, Coatesville PA, where she had recently moved after living in Pike Creek Valley DE, for 30 years. She died from complications of a severe stroke. She was born in Irvington N.J., and graduated from Fitchburg Teachers College in 1952. Thereafter, she pursued a teaching career in Connecticut, where she met her husband, Thomas P. Bentley, a mechanical engineer with the DuPont Company, who preceded her in death in 1995. She retired from teaching to raise her six children. Mrs. Bentley greatly valued education, and her love of learning and reading inspired her children's and grandchildren's academic pursuits. Her five sons founded Bentley Systems, Inc., headquartered in Exton PA, one of the world's largest privately held software companies, and her daughter followed in her footsteps to become a teacher. An active member of the community, she participated in the Pike Creek Garden Club, was a parishioner of the Parish of the Resurrection from its inception, a library volunteer, and active in several local bridge clubs and social groups. She was also an avid bowler and golfer. She was continually involved in her children's lives, as a Sunday school teacher, den mother, Girl Scout leader, and PTA member.
She is survived by two brothers, Robert Bonitz and Edgar Bonitz, and two sisters, Myra Cannon and Margaret Leary, all of Fitchburg MA; her sons Gregory and his wife Caroline of Unionville, Barry and his wife Therese of Elverson, Scott and his wife Susan of Pottstown, Keith and his wife Corinne of Elverson, and Raymond and Therese of Elverson, and her daughter Cynthia Morrison and her husband Scott of Richmond VA; 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond Bonitz and her sister, Helen Stone.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 A.M. Thursday August 10th at Saint Peter's Catholic Church, 1080 North Manor Road, Honeybrook PA 19344 (corner of Route 82 & Fairview Road). Interment will be at Union Hill Cem.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Neighborhood Hospice, 795 E. Marshall Street, West Chester, PA 19380, or any local Hospice organization. Arrangements are by KUZO AND GRIECO FUNERAL HOME, 610-444-4116.
