Caroline Tinkler Obituary

Tinkler Caroline E. Of Mt. Airy, passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 84, on May 8, 2025. Daughter of the late Rudolf and Anna Gurke. Wife of the late Alan Tinkler. Survived by her daughter Lisa Tinneny (Craig), three grandchildren, Gavin, Chase and Addison. As a child her playground was the Chanticleer Estate in Wayne where her father was a master gardener. Her father passed away when Carol was 8, and her mother and she then moved to west Mt Airy. In 1978 Carol traveled to England where she married her husband Alan Tinkler. They had a daughter Lisa and lived in London until Carol and Lisa moved back to the US to live with her mother on Gowen Circle. She remained in that home until her death. Carol had a lifelong love for reading books of all types and it would not be uncommon for her to spend hours in the library. Her knowledge and intelligence of so many vast subjects was astonishing. Carol enjoyed and loved her home in Mt Airy, specifically the many special bonds and friends she made along the way. Her dear friends Susan, Mary and Kristina, like so many others loved her and enjoyed her outgoing demeanor and endless conversation. A Visitation will be held at Holy Cross Church, 140 E. Mt. Airy Ave., Phila., PA 19119, Thursday, May 15th at 10:00 A.M. Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M. Interment Northwood Cemetery. (JACOB F. RUTH)
