Daniel Coccia was my grandpop. He was a wonderful man who suffered for a long time but he was really strong. He has to be one of the strongest people i knew. He was loved by many people. He was and amazing CHEFF. It's been around 3 weeks that he has been dead but it feels like yesterday that he was sittting on the couch and we were talking about baseball or softball. I really miss him alot and i wish that he would come back. Even though i only knew him for 11 years feels like i knew him my intire life. He use to have a name for everybody i was never called by my right name it was always Samwell or sammie the snake. HAHA. i just wish that he was still here physicaly but i know that he is not suffering and he is in a better place then were he was. I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU POPPY!!

Daniel Coccia was my grandfather through marriage(Donna and Billy). From the day i met him i knew we were gonna have a special relationship, and indeed we did. A few days before God took him, i went to visit him. My step mom told me that he was in his bed for a few days straight, but when my sister and i came he went into the lliving room to keep us company. He didnt look good and slept the whole time but i know he was happy becuase we were all with him. He ment so much to us all and we are all soo sad that he left us. Pop, i love u soo much and i hoped you liked ur send off. you will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace

Mary & Family:
No words are really enough at times like this to take away your sorrow.
We all will miss Danny even though there was a long gap in between seeing each other, you all were never far from our thoughts. Roc always talked about the band and the good times.
I know Dan is looking over you all and will be with you forever.
God's blessings to you all.
Love,
Rocky & Betty

Daddy,it's me Donna Marie.I can't begin to tell you how much you are missed!!I just keep thinking you are in the hospital and will be coming home soon, but you won't and it kills me inside. You were the most increidable father. You always put us first and worked your hardest to keep your little chickens feed. You 've touched sooo many people and your nick names for us will always live on.My heart hurts so bad inside. There is a DEEP whole in my heart and it can't be fixed. Please know how much I LOVE YOU. I know I've been talking your ear off, and your probably still getting ajusted up there, but I need to feel close to you.I was talking to you the other day and when I finished a WHITE butterfly flew by and I knew you were listening. Your in peace now and I must come to realize you are not coming back in the physical body, but your spirit will live on. I LOVE YOU with all my broken heart. Love, Buffy

Daniel Coccia was my grandpop, that I loved with all my heart. He's been through so much in his life with being sick with cancer and all and was so strong that I dont think anyone could have been so strong as he had been. I was the first grandchild to him and I've been the closest to him and I've known him the longest out of all the grandchildren so its hard for me with him passing away because we had such goods memories together that I will miss them now.Lifes hard sometimes but everything happens for a reason and pop died because he faught for such long time he just got tired of being in pain and suffering and he just gave up, and lifes not good if you are suffering because thats no life, and now hes not in pain anymore. He's in heaven with his dad and his sister and others he knew and I think hes somewhat happy there not suffering anymore and being with his other family that past away before. But, I know that he will always watch over us and he will always miss us and we will always miss him, but we will get to see him again. Rest in peace pop, I love you so much and I will miss you like crazy, Love,Nigole as he would call me!!!.

Mrs. Coccia and Family,
May God comfort you during this very difficult time in your lives.

Mr. Coccia or Pop as Alex and Samantha referred to him was a wonderful man. I didn't know him as well as many of the others who have written did, but I can say from my own limited experience and from the stories I've heard from the girls, he was a very loving and caring man. He has touched so many people in so many wonderful ways, that is something your family should be very proud of.

May he rest in peace and each of you find comfort in knowing he is in a better place, resting peacefully.
Sincerely,

Joe Palena

I'm glad to have known and marched with the King Of Mums!I knew Big Danny from his days in Avalon but never had the priveledge of marching with him until Italian American! I didn't realize until today that I was next to him in the finale of what was his last parade.I remember this because I was a rushing my part in the music a little and he told me about it a few times. I'm gonna miss the inside info around MUM time when we would go right to him after rehearsal like little kids and ask him what he had thought. He'd say at first he didn't like it and laugh, and then because he couldn't say to much he give you the old "It could go either way,it's a toss up between the two " with a smirk voicing his real opinion.
It was a pleasure and an honor.

We want to extend our deepest sympathies to the entire Coccia Family. Your family feels like an extension of our own family. We sometimes forget that all 5 kids and their spouses are not actually related to us. Mr. C was a great man, a loving husband and father, and a heck of a sax player. We always looked forward to his music critique and predictions during mum season. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you!!

Mrs C and Family ~
It was such a great honor to know such an amazing man. He was like a second father to me. Be strong and know that he will be there for you in every step of the way. (another angel to look upon us) He will never be forgotten. You have the love and support of many.

June 19, 2007

Dear Aunt Mary and Family,
We are so sorry and so sad for the lose of Uncle Danny. Our thoughts and prayers have been with you for months now and they will continue to help you all get through this very difficult time. Continue his memory with happy thoughts and cherish all the past memories you have built as a family and that will help you through. The days ahead will be difficult but with your strong faith and love for one another you will help each other through.

Of course we have many great memories ourselves about Uncle Danny but one of the most touching ones that will stick in our hearts forever was when little Dante was born and he came right to the hospital to be there for us, especially knowing Tom couldn't be there since he was stuck in Italy. From that day on he always had a special place in his heart for little Dante. We will surely miss him and his special prayers, medals and holy water but he is now in a much greater place where the prayers will be stronger and more powerful and he will always be a special angel for all of us down here. He isn't suffering, he is at peace now.
Stay strong and just keep him close to your hearts!!!
Love always,
Dante, Marla, and little Dante

Our deepest sympathy is with all of you. Uncle Danny will be missed greatly, especially by his RonBoz. We know what it is to loose the heart & soul of the family. Keep his memory alive by mentioning him each and every day. You may laugh and cry at the same time when you think of all the good times you've had together. Stay strong because the hurt will get worse and consume you before it will get better. Pray to him and he will help you through this devastating time.
*We all have a new guardian angel to watch over us. Keep an eye on us Uncle Dan!!! We Love You!

Dan Coccia was my Pop-Pop. He will be missed. His passing is sad for all of us but it just brings out old memories. He played a saxaphone like crazy ! The stringband always put him at the end of the line so he would be the closest to the judges microphone and you could hear him the best,(because he was the best).

Now I will tell you about how he cooked. OH BOY! When you walked in on Christmas Eve it smelled like a 5 star restaurant! He had pasta , meatballs, sausage, ravioli , and any other Italian food you could imagine!

Every day was New Years Day at Pop-Pop's house . He had all the Mummer's Parades taped from the early 1900's all the way to the 2007 year.

He was a very devoted Pop-Pop. He tried to come to all of his grandkids' soccer games,T- ball games, talent shows , dance recitals, and other family events. He has lots of family and friends that loves him. Keep the memories going and please sign the guestbook to share your memories or express condolences .

He will be missed but he is not suffering anymore and for our own selfish reasons we want him back - but he has tons of family to keep him company up in heaven. We love him very much!!
