DANIEL V. of Haddonfield, NJ and Mountaintop, Pa. died peacefully after a brief illness on October 9, 2011 at home surrounded by family and friends.
Beloved husband of Jolyne Rocereto Dalzell; loving father of David V. (Michelle), Los Angeles and Elizabeth C., Haddonfield; dedicated grand-father of Liesl, Haddonfield and Hattie, Imogen and Gustave, Los Angeles.
Born and reared in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a 1957 graduate of Drexel Institute of Technology. Member of Lambda Chi Alpha, Merchant-ville Masonic Lodge, Historical Society of Luzerne County, Suffolk Virginia Cultural Center, Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society, Suffolk Sister Cities, Markeim Art Center, Old St. Joseph's Church, Philadelphia.
He was a Drexel University co-operative student at The Campbell Soup Company, Camden, from 1953 to 1957 in the canned food plant. He was then appointed a corporate planning analyst in 1961 and a senior corporate planning analyst in 1967. He became manager -corporate planning in 1969, and was later, assistant advertising manager- canned foods. Subsequently, he became Director of Operations for the Restaurant Division, Eastern Region, developing the Hanover Trail Steak House Restaurants.
After leaving Campbell Soup he managed operations for the Newstand Restaurants in Philadelphia. Later he was Director of Finance at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He then worked in the finance department at Archer & Greiner. Dan was a committed volunteer. He served on the Commission of Social Justice for the Diocese of Camden; as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors at Mary H. Thomas Nursery Home Inc. in Camden, NJ, where he spearheaded a capital campaign for new facilities as well as procuring grants and donations for them; he was involved in United Way and committees at Old St. Joseph's Church. A man of many and varied interests, he held a pilot's license, was a lover and supporter of the arts and was a loyal friend to many.
Friends may call at the Dalzell home Monday evening, October 17th from 6 to 8 P.M. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Old St. Joseph's Church, 321 Willings Alley, Philadelphia at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, October 18th. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be sent to Larc School, a non-profit special education school, serving students with disabilities, 1089 Creek Road Bellmawr, NJ 08031. Arrs. KAIN-MURPHY
