Daniel McKee Obituary

McKee Daniel Joseph Age 78, of Lusby, Md., formerly of Selinsgrove, Pa., died peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 27, 2025. Born in Bryn Mawr, Pa., he spent his childhood in Grassy Sounds, N.J. and Dauphin County, Pa. He is survived by his wife, Anyanee McKee; two sons, Daniel Jr. and Jason; two granddaughters, Alex and Simran; two sisters, Joan McKee and Nancy Conley, and many half siblings and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ann McKee; two brothers and a sister. Mr. McKee married his first wife, Ann Diem, in Bryn Mawr in 1966. The couple settled in Selinsgrove, Pa., to raise their sons. Mr. McKee worked in sales most of his career, working for many years in the mobile home industry. He later obtained a Bachelor's Degree from Susquehanna University and pursued a career as an accountant. He worked as an auditor for the state of Pennsylvania and, upon retirement, worked in the sports betting industry and also maintained a private accounting practice. Mr. McKee was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing. He coordinated marksman certification courses with the M1 Garand rifle at the Nescopeck Hunting and Rifle Club in Nescopeck, Pa. Mr. McKee loved animals, especially his chihuahuas Freckles and Sasha. Mr. McKee moved to Lusby to be close to his family in 2009. Having been divorced from Ann for many years, he met and fell in love with Anyanee Piboonrungruang in 2015. The couple enjoyed entertaining guests at their home, traveling to see friends and doting on Mr. McKee's granddaughters, Alex and Simran. Mr. McKee was the son of Margaret Mumma and William McKee of Ardmore, Pa. The second youngest member of five children in a broken home, he was on his own at a young age. This provided him with a solid foundation of basic life skills that helped propel him to a lifelong, successful career. Despite his difficult youth, Mr. McKee became a man of great character. He volunteered his time to help troubled young men in Sunbury, Pa., in the 1980s to help others coming from difficult circumstances. The Mckee family is planning a private gathering to celebrate the life of Daniel Joseph McKee. If you wish to send a small gesture of kindness to Daniel, the family asks the next time you see a person in need you do whatever you can to help them through the crisis you are witnessing in memory of him.

Dan was always a great guy and always upbeat about life.

We are heart-broken for Dan and his family. He fought a valiant fight and was always one to look on the bright side. Family and friends to the very end. My sister and I were brought to tears as Dan and Anyanee made the long trip from Lusby to my Dad's funeral service in Beavertown, PA. We know the effort that took. We know the love and friendship he had for our Dad and for our uncle, Virgil Hettinger. We share that same love for Dan. He was such a guiding light as a Parent member of the Nescopeck Hunting & Rifle Club. You kept it between the rails, now rest in peace, dear friend.

I am sorry for your loss. Dan and I connected when he enrolled at Susquehanna. I was accounting department chair and was the professor in several of Dan´s classes. Coincidentally we had an Ephrata connection. Dan worked hard, was a vey good student and we became friends while he was in the area. We lost touch and I´m happy to see that he did succeed in his accounting career. A lasting memory of mine is that Dan was always positive. He never had a bad day.
