Dan was one of my closest friends for more than 60 years.
I loved Dan Ryan as much as it is possible to love another human being. He stood for everythiong that is good in this world. I will miss him terribly.

Dan Ryan was one of the truly great members of The Great Class of 1947, United States Merchant Marine Academy.
His passing creates a void that will never be filled.

Dan, Jim, and Katie,
Chris and I have many great memories of time spent with your parents. Your Dad and Mom were the consummate hosts at "New Years" celebrations in Avalon and many other events at their home in Villanova. Your Dad never missed the opportunity to take the time to ask about how things were going with our lives. Most people recognized him through his professional achievements. I knew him only as a "good guy" who cared about others.
Dan Jr.,
God bless you, Jim, Katie, and your mom.
Sincerely,
Mike & Chris Lawn

To a special friend whom I greatly admired, a true supporter of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and Section E-143, and a lover of my E-mail jokes. Fair winds and calm seas, Dan. We will miss you.

Dear Jim, Eileen and the entire Ryan family,
We were saddened to hear of the passing of your father. His passing evoked many fond college memories that I (we) had frankly all but forgotten. As Barb is just beginning a new position and John will be out of town on business we wil not be able to personally express our sympathies. Please know that our thoughts are with you at this time.

My parents have enjoyed many trips and late nights with "Dan and Kate". Mr. Ryan's blunt humor would carry giggles from my parents weeks after the trip or party.

Dear Kate and Family,
Catharie and I were so sorry to hear of Danny"s illness and death. I have such fond memories of him from basketball at deSales, days and nights in Ocean City, and our navy days in Norfolk where we made a great Mutt and Jeff combination. I.m sorry that we won't be able to join you for his funeral but you have our deepest sympathy.
Sincerely,
Fred and Catharie Nass
