This is one of my favorite pics of us. Both of us had been going to the Parrot in Ft. Lauderdale for Eagles games for quite a few years. (I went everytime I visited family in Ft. Lauderdale, girlfriends or eventually my own condo). This was our first time going together. We find it amazing that we never met there. He had to come to North Wildwood to find me. LOL I miss you babe!!!!! Till we see each other again. Enjoy Paradise!

We meet people in phases of our lives, and some people stay where we met, while others become a fixture in where our lives go. Bob Murphy was one of those people.
Bobby Murphy and I met in the Philly PD.
In 1990 I moved to Florida. A few short years later Bobby moved down and was close to his brother Jimmy, the “big shot” lawyer in Ft. Lauderdale. He was so proud of his little brother and all he accomplished and the life he built. Brothers are a funny bunch and sometimes they don’t always say how they feel, but I know that Bobby thought the world of his brother Jimmy.
Bobby and I became very close in Florida and spent a lot of time watching the Eagles at The Parrot and the Phillies Spring Training in Clearwater. During those times, Bobby always spoke about his son, Tim, and how talented Tim was and how he was so proud of him and his accomplishments. So many people mistakenly thought Bobby and Timmy were brothers, which always made Bobby laugh, and secretly enjoy being thought of as a lot younger than he was! Bob’s daughter Colleen and her two sons were the apple of Bobby’s eye. The time he spent with them at the shore were cherished times to Bobby, and he would not have traded them for anything.
Part of our Florida crew was Jimmy Shanahan, retired PPD Chief Inspector. Jimmy wintered in Ft. Lauderdale and was with us for many a good times watching the Eagles, and Phillies. We were fortunate to have each other and we never forgot where we came from. Having friends from where you come from is truly a gift when you move far from home.
About 5 years ago Bobby told me that he had met someone, which I knew was a serious thing for Bob. It turned out Pauline was the love of his love that he had waited a lifetime to meet. After he and Pauline married and moved to the West Coast Bob and I didn’t have as much contact, but I knew that he was finally content and happy, and I was happy for him.
So when I got a call on 11/30 that Bobby had died, I was shocked. It’s taken me a while to process this loss, and just as I was coming to terms with this I learned that our good friend Jimmy Shanahan passed away on 12/13. My Florida crew is gone. And it leaves me bereft and feeling such loss. 2020 has truly been a cruel year filled with so much heartache.
I want to convey my heartfelt condolences to the Murphy family. I know you are grieving the loss of a big presence in your lives. Pauline, I am so sorry that your time with your soulmate was cut so short. Sometimes life can be so unfair, but I am so grateful that you gave Bobby true happiness and contentment in the final years of his life.
God bless and comfort you all, and RIP my brothers. Until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand

our family has always enjoyed seeing Bob over the years...just from the numerous comments you know that Bob touched many many lives...he always had a big smile on his face when I saw him but I think that watching Timmy playing on Irish weekend and having his daughter Colleen by his side along with the grandkids was the reason for that smile...will miss you Peggy and Ed Graham and family...and for as long as you have been in my life since childhood I never knew that David was your first name..

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. I was in the police academy with Bob class 185 June 1967 . I always called him Bob.
We remained friends through the years meeting in Florida and when he came up to Philly we would go to FOP . I did just talk to Bob about getting surgery. We did not go into detail about medical condition. He will be missed. He had a great sense of humor and was always up person with hearty laugh. Bob had many friends from the police department and many other friends. He was liked by many with his great personality.
