I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a good man. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends, for such a tragic loss.

Like David, I too lost my parent at age 4 and attended Milton Hershey School. David was 2 years older than I, and was well respected. Even in High School he was always a great guy, who treated everyone with respect, and always had a positive attitude. As an underclassman to Dave, I looked up to him.

Why does things like this happen to good people. I just don't understand. This is very heartbreaking.

I knew Dave years ago. We worked together at Bankers Life. Our little gang played together in Narberth, Chestnut Hill and the Chesapeake Bay. We lost touch years go. But, every once in a while he would track me down and we could catch up. He was a force of nature. I cannot believe that the world will turn with out him. Our friendship--brief as it was--impacted me greatly and forever. His passion, tenacity, and zest for living stay with me to this day. He was a very special man. I am honored to have memories of him. My most sincere condolences to you, Mrs. Schreffler and your children.

I attended David's service today and experienced two very different powerful feelings: 1) Sadness, obviously a sudden loss to many people especially a wonderful family 2) Hope, so many people touched by Dave and clear positive messages: family first, treasure your spouse and children, help your neighbor. What a terrific example for all of us - I am a better man for having met Dave. My prayers continue for him and the family. PS - I worked with Dave at Adaytum - and enjoyed every minute together!

David was a wonderful person that we met as part of our team at Adaytum early in this decade. David was a gentle and strong man all at the same time. He loved his family, his friends and his work. He overcame so much in his life and we are proud to have met and known him. Our sympathy and prayers go out to his family. David touched many. David will be remembered as a man who lived his life as a reflection of the words of St. Francsis of Assisi "“Preach the gospel at all times. If necessary, use words." He was a very good man.

I met David through Rogers Benefit Group. He had Phila and I had Central Pa. I helped him get started when he first joined the company. He was a very energetic and intelligent person. He loved his family deeply. This is such a shock! May God bless all of you!

To the Schreffler Family, Over the years we have come to know and enjoy your family at the Pcc. It was a total shock to hear the news of Mr.Schreffler's passing. He always went out of his way to say hello to our staff, he treated us with his kindness and respect. Now as we go to lower our club flags,we will take an extra moment of silence to remember not only a member of the Pcc passing, but to honor a true friend. P.C.C. SECURITY

Dave was a great guy who helped many people who I worked with & me understand the finer details of the insurance business & be able to share that knowledge with the clients we worked for. Although he was always one of the busiest guys on the planet, he always gave his time to help. My heart & prayers go to his family, your Husband & Dad was a special person.

I found out about Dave through casually glancing at the newspaper and felt like I'd been sucker punched. Since then, I've looked at the paper many times somehow hoping that if I looked at it enough the name would change. Dave was one of the first people I met in college, we became good friends and though not so close anymore, we remained friends over the years. My heart aches for Deb and the kids. I hope they take whatever solace they can from knowing that Dave will be remembered as a great person and wonderful husband and father.

I just can't believe David is gone. He was an amazing person and the best story teller I ever met. I have been away from Philly for many years now. And I only saw David a handful of times (usually playing golf). He was always a presence where ever he went and was one of those people who took his responsibilities to his community and to organizations he was involved with seriously. My heart goes out to Deb and the kids and may his cherished memory be a source of strength to them and to his friends who will miss him dearly.
