54, restaurant manager, beloved friend, brother and son, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 of cancer. Doug was so proud of his abilities and accomplishments as a restaurant manager. He had a knack for entering a building and pinpointing exactly what needed to be fixed, and who to call to get it done right away. Doug was involved in numerous restaurant openings and prided himself on his knowledge of rules, regulations and legal requirements in the industry. Personally, Doug was a friend to so many. He kept in close contact with people he knew from Sandy Run Elementary and Upper Dublin High School. The restaurant industry and various establishments he worked in enabled him to develop and maintain close relationships with so many people. A few of them were with him to the very end and that meant everything to him. Doug did not want a funeral service, it was not his style. He wanted people to be happy when they think of him. So a future Celebration of Life will take place. But you are welcome to pay your respects at a Shiva on Wednesday, May 17 from 4 - 9 P.M. at the Timberlake Apartments Clubhouse in E. Norriton, PA. A brief service from Rabbi Howard Cove will take place between 6:30 - 7 P.M. Doug is survived by his mother, Barbara Blane, sister, Irene Cohen, and ex-wife, Robyn Pottorff. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in his name to Upper Dublin High School, a place he had such amazing memories.

i know Douglas for a long time over 33 years he has been a good friend even we stayed in touch once a while but he was a great person i have been emailinh him everywhere no reply i just search his name and i saw it he was a man full of energy and alawys smiling

It's been a year now since you have been gone and I still can't believe it's real. Jerry and I miss your friendship. You had a sixth sense in making a phone call..it's like you knew the exact moment we needed to talk. Miss our Jersey shore trips and your corny jokes. No one could run a restaurant like you. You took care of those close to you and for that we are grateful. Miss you BFF.

I had the pleasure of meeting Doug a few years back, we didn't know each other very long, but he defiantly made an impact with me. He shared some "life" lessons, that I will practice for the rest of my days. Doug's presence was always felt when he was in a room, his energy and compassion was contagious. We were so sad to hear about Doug's passing. Having moved out of state, we found out only recently. Doug was one of the most energetic people we've ever met, having spent many years in the restaurant industry. Doug was one of a kind and we think about him often, especially when we need to smile.

Doug was a great friend who could always make you smile and laugh, always had time for you and always was looking to the future to make it better. He had an incredible knack for the restaurant business for sure and was respected by all that worked both for him and beside him over many years, After a long day it was always fun to talk to Doug and just forget about the day and smile. So many laughs so many smiles and none will be forgotten. I will look forward to the next laugh and smile we share buddy and until then keep smiling down on us each and everyday.
