Dr. Nicholas M. Renzi Obituary

Renzi Dr. Nicholas M. Age 87. I, Dr. Nicholas M. Renzi, died peacefully surrounded by my loving family on March 14, 2024 at the age of 87. I invite everyone to celebrate my life by making a child laugh, helping someone in need, or reminding someone not to worry, be happy. I lived a beautiful life. I was born to Italian immigrant parents, Domenica and Nicola Renzi, in 1936 and was the fourth of eight children. They fondly called me Junior. I had a humble childhood. My father worked on the railroad and had a bakery in the back of our house, and my mother stayed home and raised us. While humble, my parents were entrepreneurial, hardworking, and proud, and instilled all of those values in me. I met my loving wife, Joan, when I was sixteen years old and times were simpler. We married at seventeen and were happily married for 69 years. She was by my side every step of the way and provided unwavering love and support through it all up until my last breath. She was the love of my life. I attended La Salle University and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine before beginning my career as a family practice physician in South Philadelphia. I had immense success and fulfillment as a physician and cared deeply about my patients. I like to think that I left the world a better place through my practice. While proud of my career, I was most proud of the family my wife and I built. We had four beautiful, successful children, Nicholas (Denise), Joseph (Joann), Vincent (Claudia), and Colette (Dr. Kenneth) Giacobbo, who blessed us with fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren who affectionally called me Poppy. I enjoyed my family trips to Disney World, spending my summers down the shore, playing pinochle and chess into the early morning hours, playing cards and shooting craps in Atlantic City with my wife, and drinking a Crown Royal Manhattan up, extra sweet with two cherries with a Pall Mall unfiltered cigarette in my hand. In my later days, I spent my time appreciating the simple moments in life. I liked to sit on my porch in Ventnor and watch my grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up before my eyes. I lived my life my way. My life was not perfect, but I had no problems. I was lucky in love. And I was happy and blessed. I hope all who loved me will smile and laugh when remembering me for I lived a beautiful life. Relatives and friends are invited to his VIEWING Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at The Church of St. Monica, 17th and Ritner Sts., Philadelphia, PA 9 A.M. till 10:30 A.M. Followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 A.M. Int. Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. monti-ragofuneralhome.com

Dear Mr. Renzi,
As i sit down to write this, my heart is heavy with both sorrow and gratitude. For the past 3 years, you've been more than a client to me; you've been a cherished part of my life, and caring for you has been an honor.
Your strength, resilience, and kindness have left an indelible mark on me as your caregiver. Through every challenge and triumph, you faced each day with grace and courage, inspiring everyone around you. Though you may no longer be here with us in body, your spirit will live on in the memories we shared and the lessons you taught. I will forever cherish the moments we spent together, the laughter we shared, and the bond we formed.
I bid you farewell my friend. May you rest in peace, knowing that you were loved and will be deeply missed.

Awwww I´m so sorry to hear this. He was by far the best doctor ever. I´m still looking for one that comes close to him. He cared very deeply! My mom, Elaine Pilkington, just loved him. He helped her when my dad was dying. He made numerous visits to our house. Don´t think he ever charged her! Both Joe and Vincent were equally as caring! I went to school Dr Renzi daughter. I feel like we were all family! God bless you guys. Know that my family thinks of and talks about you guys often. The one thing I remember from one of my visits to him was "the only thing you put in your ear is your elbow!" I still use that line. I´m sure he had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth when he said this! Again God Bless!!

We are deeply sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Nick Renzi.
We had some great times growing up, many fond memories, the first one that comes to mind, Hawaii, a tornado..even though we never seen the sun, we certainly had many laughs.
Thinking of you all with love & the fondest of memories.
Doc, rest in peace.
My dad sends his condolences as well & is sad to hear the news.
Sincerely,

To the Renzi Family. Dr. Nick was a gem and one of the fondest memories of my childhood through adulthood. He treated all my family members with compassion and great advice over the years. No matter what the problem, he would find an answer and calm you down in the process, so you somehow always felt better physically and emotionally. Even in the last years of my Mother´s life, he was still making home visits to her. Nothing was too much for him where his patients were concerned. That meant everything to my family. You will be greatly missed Doctor. God bless you always.

Doctor Nicholas Renzi was the most loving, kind and patient doctor. I had, as a child. My parents were also, immigrants from Italy. They came in 1950. I remember back in 1961 when, my brother, Pete Foresta, broke out with Yellow Fever. We went to Doctor Nicholas Renzi's Office on 9th and Porter. Where his wife Joan, worked by his side. He moved to McKean Street. I continued taking my 2 girls there. Then 21st and Passyunk. He took care of my mom until she passed in 2003. My family was blessed to have Doctor Nicholas Renzi come for home visits. It was like a family visit. I recently went to Silverman's drugstore one beautiful afternoon and I seen, Doctor Nicholas Renzi, sitting in a chair OMG! What a surprise!
He was visiting Bill the pharmacist. That was the last time I seen him. It made my day. I was so excited to tell my girls. He is in our hearts forever. Untill we meet again. Rest in peace, Doctor Nicholas Renzi
