SR EMELLIA, Dec. 17, 2015, at the age of 95. Educator, administrator and author. A graduate of St. Basil Academy, she entered the monastery in 1936 and pronounced her final profession of vows in 1945. She earned her BA and MA in Latin and her PhD in School Administration. Sister was Principal at: St. Basil Academy and various other schools and she also served as Academic Dean at Manor College. Sister served her community for 19 years in Rome, Italy, serving as Superior General and General Councilor. As Province Historian, she authored the Province's history "Keepers of the Flame: 90 Year Province History". She is survived by her sister, Olga Zarichnak and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Her viewing will be held on Sunday at 4 to 6 PM at the Monastery of the Sisters of St. Basil the Great, Holy Trinity Chapel, 710 Fox Chase Road, Jenkintown, PA. Parastas Services will be sung at 6:00 PM. There will be a viewing on Monday starting at 9:30 AM. Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at the convent cemetery.

Saddened to learn of Sister Emellia's passing. I remember meeting her a few times in the late 60's when she visited St Vladimir's Ukrainian Catholic School in Arnold, PA. Very fond memories of her wonderful smile and kind spirit. May she be with our Father in heaven.
