Eugene "Hughie" O'Neill

O'Neill Eugene "Hughie" Age 81, longtime resident of Winchester Park, Philadelphia passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Hughie was raised in St. Monica's Parish, South Philadelphia. After attending La Salle College, he spent a few years in the Air Force Reserves shortly followed by meeting his wife, Catherine, of 52 years. Hughie cherished his career as an Environmental Investigator, a job he would work until his late seventies. Exercise was fundamental pillar in Hughie's life. He competed in multiple Boston Marathons among many other long-distance events. Hughie loved his trips to Bar Harbor, Maine and his love hate relationship with the Phillies was palpable. Hughie is survived by his beloved wife Catherine O'Neill (nee Dolan); loving father of Kerry Rochester (Don) and Christopher O'Neill (Gwendolyn). He was a caring grandfather to Grace, Emily, and Raegan O'Neill and brother of Ann Mink (George). Hughie was predeceased by his siblings John, James, and Margaret. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Visitation on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8100 Colfax St., Phila., PA 19136 from 8:45 A.M. to 9:45 A.M.
