DR. EUGENE JAMES YANITY

YANITY DR. EUGENE JAMES Passed away Sept. 20, 2023. Born in Homer City, PA he was the beloved son to the late James and Genevieve Yanity (nee DeChurch) and brother to Christine Cipollini (née Yanity). He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with his Medical degree. He went on to specialize in Adolescent Psychiatry. Eugene then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force as a Flight Surgeon in Okinawa, Japan and England. It was during his service that he met the love of his life, Barbara (nee Bowman) Together they shared 57 years of marriage raising their 3 girls. Eugene was a devoted husband, cherished father to Genevieve Yanity, Margaret Petrone (Marc), and Kathryn Zaccone (William), beloved grandfather to Isabella, Jack, and Jamie, and friend to many. Eugene devoted his life to the service of others. He was a pivotal figure in the mental health field where he founded the Adolescent Unit of Friends Hospital. He practiced at Friends Hospital for over 30 years as well as servicing several other clinics in the area. Eugene was very active in his community. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 4th Degree in Ocean City, NJ, Eucharistic minister and base soloist in the choir. In his free time, Eugene enjoyed gardening, music, especially the piano and accordion, dancing and big hugs. His greatest joy was his family who will miss him deeply. Eugene is survived by his family, many dear friends and colleagues. Relatives and friends are invited to Eugene's Life Celebration on Wednesday September 27, 2023 from 10 A.M. to 10:50 A.M. with his Funeral Mass to follow all at St. Helena's Church of Blue Bell, 1489 Dekalb Pike. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre of Philadelphia.
