I met Eva in 1968 as she first arrived to the United States in Berkeley California with her husband and my dear friend Louis. I recall their apartment and especially the Mustang they had. We both fell in love with California and continued to share Berkeley memories for the next 40 years.
Then we both moved to Detroit where Eva and Louis had their two daughters, Caroline and Monica. We shared a lot of laughs and memories exploring Motown and Michigan. It has been my privilege to know Eva and to enjoy her warm personality, generosity and her inner and outer beauty. We met periodically through the many years, in Washington and Philadelphia and especially when Eva and Louis flew their plane and surprised us in Rochester, NY.
The last time I saw Eva was amazingly by chance at the Mayo Clinic. I ran into Eva and Monica near the elevator. Apparently we did not know that we attended the same clinic. Eva was accompanied by her daughter Monica minutes after she was told that nothing more can be done. Eva fought so bravely and graciously during the last 8 years of her life. She remained dedicated, cheerful and unselfish. She was so lucky to know her granddaughter Eva and to attend Monica's graduation from medical school. I miss Eva already, I will miss her gentleness, intelligence beauty and friendship. Eva and I have enjoyed each others company. I especially appreciated Eva's love of beauty and aesthetics.
Both Paula Jorne and Judith Love share my sorrow and extend our condolences to Louis, Caroline and Monica and the entire family. I will treasure Eva's memory forever.
