Florence ADELE Wallis

Wallis Florence ADELE (nee DIMCOFF) November 16, 2021, at her assisted care residence in Dresher, PA, age 95. Wife of the late Dr. Irving Wallis. Daughter of the late Rose and Samuel Dimcoff. Sister of the late Albert Dimcoff. Mother of Dr. Larry (Dr. Greta) Wallis and Dr. Steven (Marlene) Wallis. Grandmother of Jade Wallis, Devon (Alessandro) Gagliardi, Samuel (Sarah Aguiar) Wallis and Dr. Jeffrey Wallis. Also survived by 7 great grandchildren. Florence was raised in Philadelphia and graduated from Olney High School at age 16, with honors. She married and moved to Gloucester City serving a term as PTA President, then moving to Haddonfield. She later applied and was accepted to Glassboro State College at age 36, graduating with honors. Florence worked first as a teacher and later as a librarian for both Gloucester City and Cherry Hill school systems. Her parents were Ukrainian immigrants so she was a first generation American. In addition to her native English, she spoke fluent Yiddish, was able to tell a great joke in either language, and loved to laugh. A longtime member of Temple Beth Sholom in Cherry Hill, she enjoyed opera, cooking, travel, and was an avid reader. Florence was cherished by all who knew her. She loved deeply and was deeply loved. She was one of the Grand Dames of her generation and will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited Sunday beginning 10:30 A.M. to PLATT MEMORIAL CHAPELS, Inc., 2001 Berlin Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ where Funeral Services will begin promptly at 11:00 A.M. Interment Crescent Memorial Park, Pennsauken, NJ.
