FRANK FIORINO Obituary

Age 87, of the Tacony neighborhood of Philadelphia, passed away December 8, 2020. Frank was certainly a one-of-a-kind gentleman and someone who touched many lives. Born on August 27, 1933, Frank attended Our Lady of Consolation School and Northeast Catholic High School. After serving in the US Army, Frank attended the University of Pennsylvania. His skills and interests were far-reaching, but he was mostly drawn to sports and music. Frank served the community as a playground director for the Philadelphia Department of Recreation. He also spent many years playing for the Flatiron Softball organization, coaching the Philadelphia Spirit Women's Softball team, and eventually coaching women's softball at Philadelphia University. As a musician, Frank found joy in directing Philadelphia community theatre projects, particularly the Thomas Holme Theater Group and Vogt Players, and tickling the ivories at various restaurants outside of Wildwood, New Jersey. In all his endeavors, Frank was viewed as a consummate professional and gentleman. His ability to balance humor, meaningful feedback, and respect earned him an admirable reputation within the communities he served. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Geraldine Fiorino; and 2 sisters, Sister Josephine Fiorino and Clara Pultro. He is survived by his Godson, Danny Vogelman and Danny's family - wife, Sandy and three sons, Ethan, Jace and Trey Vogelman. He is survived by his brother, Nick (Sylvia) Fiorino; his brother-in-law Sal Pultro, his niece Kimberly (Kyle) Gress and nephews Bob (Pat) Pultro and Michael (Kim) Pultro, Kenneth Fiorino, niece Debbie Dietrich. He is also survived by 7 grand nephews/nieces. Due to the current pandemic, no service is planned at this time. The family will share information through various avenues once an event is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made to the National Parkison's Foundation as Frank battled with Parkinson's disease in his later life.

Frank was one of a kind and an influential person in so many lives, including my own. He was so much more than a coach and will forever hold a special place in my heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I’m thinking of his family during this difficult time, especially his godson whom he spoke of often!
