I worked with Hedy at the Philadelphia Navy Exchange for many years. We became friends and over the years we had lots of laughs and many good times.

I'm not a religious person, and I am still uncertain of where our souls go when we expire. But I promise, that wherever that is, has just gained its greatest gift of all. It is with a heavy heart that I say goodnight to my most positive influence, my childhood hero, & my best friend. What a role model my grandmother was. After falling inlove with an American soldier, she left her home in Japan & they began their life traveling to military stations all over the world. WWII was barely over, outcasting her from her family for leaving & from her new life in the states as a Japanese American citizen. Nonetheless, she had an incredible life & beautiful marriage, raising four children, working multiple jobs to give them the best education, and later raising my sister & I. My earliest memories revolve around my time with her. She was my first art teacher, my biggest supporter, she prepared every holiday feast exquisitely, her house was always spotless, & her hair was always perfect. Most all, she made this look effortless. Her work ethic, family morals, & warm heart have sculpted me into who I am today, & for that I owe her everything. Goodnight Nanny, until our souls find each other again.
I love you.
