Gloria Gaither-Coles Obituary
GLORIA GAITHER-COLES, 82, of West Chester passed away at Chester County Hospital on March 21, 2008. The daughter of Dr. Cornelius H. and Albertha Gaither of West Chester, she is survived by her husband Alphonso Coles of Lynchburg VA and four children.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 26, at 1 P.M., DeBAPTISTE FUNERAL HOME, 601 E. Miner St., West Chester.
Mrs. Gaither-Coles was born in Philadelphia and raised in West Chester. A graduate of West Chester High School and Fisk University, she taught for more than 30 years in the Philadelphia School system and continued teaching after retirement at Sleighton Farms School in Media PA. Her life included many years of devoted service to Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
She is survived by her children, Kevin Coles of West Chester, Alphonso Coles of Washington DC, Gloria Washington of Silver Spring MD, and Clifton Coles of Hyattsville MD; her brother, Dr. Cornelius E. Gaither of Thorofare NJ; 4 grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
