Harold Steck Obituary

STECK
HAROLD D. March 5, 2006, age 89, of Meadowbrook; beloved husband of Virginia (nee Crawford); father of Harold D. Jr., (and his wife Sue), John C., (and his wife Margaret), the late Katharine Z. Gordon; grandfather of David, (and his wife Holly), Tamara, Katelynn, Emily and Teresa Steck and Michelle Zulkowsky; great grand-father of Brendan Steck. Mr. Steck was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Simon Gratz High School. A WWII combat pilot, Captain Steck flew 2 tours, at least 50 missions, over Germany in B-24 and B-17 aircraft, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross. Later he ferried other aircraft in the Pacific theater of operations. Mr. Steck worked as an electrician and was a member for over 70 years in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, union local 98. For 50 years Harold and Virginia enjoyed square dancing, playing Contract Bridge and Dominoes with friends from the USA and Canada and especially with Tom and Helene VanFossen. Mr. Steck vacationed and fished near Traverse City, Michigan and St. Petersburg, Florida. He was a Deacon and Elder of Huntingdon Valley Presbyterian Church and served on their Missions Board. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service, Friday 11 A.M. at the Huntingdon Valley Presbyterian Church, 2410 Huntingdon Pike, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006, where friends may call from 10 A.M. until Service time. Memorial gifts in Mr. Steck's name may be made to the above named Church's mission fund or Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633. Arrangements by the JOHN E. STILES FUNERAL HOME.
