Jim, What a good person you were. A great brother-in-law, a loving husband, and a wonderful father. We had many good times together and plenty of laughs. We will miss you. Rest in peace. Love The Scowcrofts

Uncle Jim will be missed so very much I always looked forward to what joke or story he would tell me at family get togethers. He was the best.

One of my favorite all time vacations was the week Carolyn and I spent at the Carty's in Philly! What a blast we had. It was the first time I ever saw a Dad cook dinner! And remember that special salad dressing made out of ketchup? Who has the recipe? I am very fortunate to have had such a great uncle with a loving welcoming family.

Uncle Jim,
I'll never forget the summer after 8th grade I spent with you guys, the spaghetti dinners, you singing at my wedding, or the fact you alway had a joke to tell. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Agnes and Family: We are so sorry and sad to hear of Jim's passing. What a great neighbor we had for 27 years!! We will never forget how nervous he made us when he would climb up on the roof to wash windows or put up Christmas lights. Jim will be missed!! All of you are in our thoughts and prayers! Love, The Gorman Family

Ditto on the childhood memories. Uncle Jim always made you feel welcome and wanted. He made time to talk or just listen. No matter what kind of trouble I was in, he would reassure me that it wasn't so bad and would be forgotten soon. I loved how important family was to him.

My greatest childhood memories, when we still lived in Philadelphia, involved so many gatherings with the Kerrigans, Carty's, Scowcroft's and of course Grandmom and Grandpop. Uncle Jim, I close my eyes and all I can see is your smile and hear your laugh. I thank God for those memories of having such a wonderful, loving, family and I know that Grandmom and Grandpop will welcome you with open arms into heaven.

The members of our CopNET family would like to thank Philadelphia Homicide Detective James F. Carty for his dedication and service to the citizens of Philadelphia. The passing of Jim will be broadcast to our 2420 members shortly and we would like to extend our sincere condolences to his family. His absence from our ranks will be deeply missed by the remaining members of Philadelphia’s Finest who were fortunate to have served with him during his police career. He will continue in our thoughts and prayers during our remaining days. "Until we meet again, may God Hold you in the palm of his hand. " . . .
