Dear Meehan Family,
I can still remember the first day I saw Msgr. Meehan. It was June 20, 1976; the day after we moved to St. John Neumann's parish. Msgr. Meehan was saying mass on that sunny June day. He had me hooked from that first homily. I was nine years old.
Msgr. Meehan had a wonderful way of connecting with everyone - no matter how old or how young. He touched so many lives. He has definitely earned his place in Heaven.
On behalf of the entire Anthony family, our deepest sympathies on the loss of your brother and uncle. He was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed.

To Msgr. Meehan's loving family:
Msgr. Meehan touched many lives in many ways. He was always there when needed by so many. He will always be remembered lovingly and gratefully for his dedication to his people--his extended family. He was patient, kind, and loving and had a wonderful sense of humor. His perspective on everyday problems was extraordinary. Although he was a simple man and a "man of few words," he always made sense and helped put things into perspective. Thank you all for nurturing such a loving man. God Bless you and keep you in his loving care.

Dear Meehan Family,
I was greatly saddened by the notice of Fr. Meehan's passing. He was a wonderful man and I admired him greatly.
He and my father, Jim Cantwell were classmates and VFW band members together many years ago at Our Mother of Good Council. Over the years, we ran into Fr. Meehan at family and church functions around the Main Line, he always remembered me and my family and was always quick with a funny story or two. While visiting my mother in recent years, I attended many of his Masses at St. John Neumann and he still had that twinkle in his eye and that earnest message.
We will pray for him,

What a wonderful priest and human being. All my years in Catholic school the one priest that stood out was Father Meehan. I graduated from St. Hubert's in 68 and
had Father Meehan for just one year, but never forgot him.Rest in eternal peace, you were what God intended all priests to be.

One of God's greatest gifts to all of us was the life of Father Meehan. All who knew him, personally, were especially blessed. I was one of many who loved him so very much and am forever grateful that he was part of my life.

If we are blessed in our life we may meet a handful of people who will truly help shape and define us. Father Meehan, in my life, played a primary role. As a Bishop McDevitt student and a parishoner of Saint Luke's Father Meehan's humility, kindness and gentle spirit helped me realized how manly and valuable these traits are. He guided me into a formal religous life, which lasted three years but I chose to teach in the Catholic school system for twenty years because of people like Father Meehan. My wife and I have six adult children and each one has been effected by Father Meehan, although they may not realize it. He helped define religion in my life and I will remain forever grateful. I do not know what a saint is but in my eyes he lived love which is probably the main ingredient. Father may you rest in peace; you were a holy man who figured it out and then shared it with a smile. Thank you.

To the entire Meehan family,
Please accept my sincerest condolences on the death of Mons. James Meehan. I have so many wonderful memories of Father Meehan as I was growing up in Glenside. I attended Bishop McDevitt High School and was a member of St. Luke's Parish, where he was in residence. Father Meehan has always had a very special place in my heart because he helped me through my mom's many serious illnesses. He was always there to counsel my mother and to comfort me. As a young teenager, I don't know how I could have dealt with Mom's many near-death experiences without his kindness and compassion. He was truly a very special priest.
I am happy knowing that he is in heaven today and thankful that I called him a few years ago to tell him how influential he was in my life.
May he rest in peace at God's side for all eternity. You and he are in my thoughts and prayers.
