I met Janice in school. She was a year older than me and I looked up to her. She was so poised an elegant to me. I met her again when she was teaching my grandsons. She was a warm, caring, exceptionally kind person. I will never forget her.

Very saddened to have come upon this news. Mrs. Elfant was my French teacher in 7th through 9th grades at Beverly Hills Jr. High School, Sept. 1970 - May 1973. May her family and those whom she impacted find solace in her memory.

My cousin Janice will sorely be missed by family, friends, colleagues and her students alike. She was an energetic, creative, blithe spirited individual...an excellent teacher of Spanish, French and ESL. When I look through some of our old photo albums and see her first as a little girl always with her sister Sandy, and then growing up and getting married to Howard, having her own children, and then again with Sandy as it was in the last few years, it is impossible to accept her passing. She will always be in our hearts and minds. Hundreds of her students will miss her as well, and when they travel the world, the will remember with love, their Spanish and French teacher who gave them the valuable language skills that they will always carry with them. Descansa en paz. Reste tranquillement. Cousin Allen Hirsh (Ocean, NJ)

NeilJanice is my first cousin once removed by marriage. She always took a personal interest in me and made me feel loved. She had me babysit for her kids when they were small and invited me to teach at RS Hebrew School when I was in college at Penn in the late 1980s. She radiated love, enthusiasm, generosity and intelligence. An example of a life well lived. Today's service was an unforgettable tribute to an extraordinary woman.

Dear Timmy and Janice's family, What a beautiful memorial service today. Pictures of Janice being shown while wonderful words were flowing from friends who loved her made a warm embrace in the room. I hope you felt it too. Regina Aidenbaum

I remember Janice from high school...she was a year older and I thought she was so sophisticated and lovely...and she was throughout her life. As a teacher, she excelled and her students loved her. She was a gracious, kind and warm person; a great lady has been lost and will be missed by many. May her memory be a blessing to her family and friends. She truly touched many, many lives.

Janice and I were friends since elementary school. I remember birthday parties and summer day camp. She was always a beautiful person and grew into a wonderful and compassionate woman. If she touched your life she was in your heart forever. RIP sweet friend.

I worked with Janice At Elkins Park MS for a brief time, when I was the Reading Specialist. She was one of the most remarkable, vibrant teachers I've ever seen. Her dramatic, engaging personality was so genuine, that everyone in and out of the classroom was drawn to her. What a loss.

I remember Janice as a colleague at Elkins Park Middle school. I was a brand new reading teacher and she welcomed me warmly. She always had a smile and a good word to start the day. How short her life, but what a difference she made to her students and her family.
