JOHN ADAMS Obituary

ADAMS JOHN LAURENCE John Laurence Adams, 81, of Philadelphia, PA, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 10, 2024, surrounded by family. Born in Reading, PA, John was the youngest of two children of the late Charles A. Adams and Edith M. (Frame) Adams. He is predeceased by his sister, Mary Patricia Gimeno. He was the beloved husband of Ann Katz and the late Joan Grillo Adams, loving father to Catherine Baldry (Rich) and Lauren Miltenberger (Scott), and doting grandfather to Ali, Kyle and Thrasher. John lived a life devoted to his loved ones, dedicated to service and committed to always making the most of every moment no matter the situation. A proud graduate of Lehigh University (both an undergraduate business degree and an MBA), John began his career in IT with IBM before settling in Bethlehem, PA, where he welcomed his two cherished daughters, Cathy and Laurie. Always one to embrace life's opportunities, he then moved to his favorite place on Earth, Avalon, NJ, where he continued his successful career as an IT executive. In Avalon, he found love again with Joan Grillo. They shared 25 wonderful years of marriage until her untimely passing in 2017. John's heart then opened once more when he met Ann Katz. They married in 2021, creating a beautiful new chapter in his life enjoying the culture and arts of Philadelphia. John was a member of the Army Reserves, proudly serving his country working in Intelligence. This dedication to service continued throughout his life, as he served on the Executive Board of the United Way for over 20 years, being a champion for those in need. In recent years, he worked as a Patient Safety Advocate, raising awareness and working to enact meaningful change in healthcare. John was also an avid traveler, loved history and music, and was a voracious reader. John's legacy is one of unwavering dedication to family, an eternally optimistic spirit, and a lifelong commitment to service. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, humor, and zest for life. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Wednesday, October 16th from 6 - 8 P.M. with a Vigil Service from 7 - 7:15 P.M. at LOGAN-VIDEON FUNERAL HOME, located at 2001 Sproul Road, Broomall, PA.
