JOHN BARRY, died at his home in Westport CT, on the 23rd of June 2016, after a long illness. Born in Philadelphia in 1930, he was a graduate of Northeast Catholic High School, LaSalle College, and the University of Pennsylvania. He worked for many years at General Reinsurance Corpora-tion, retiring as Senior Vice President. His integrity and judgment won the respect of his peers in the investment community and he served on many industry committees, including Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board. In his retire-ment, he was an active member of the Westport/Weston Y's Men, where he led the hiking group and served on the Board.
He was greatly loved by Mary DeCourcey Cregan, his wife of 62 years; his children John (Lisa), Mary (Jamie), Kathleen (Donnie), Tom (Renée), Nora (Al), Michael (Ellen); his grand-children Maura, Courtney, Mac, James, Lauren, Hannah, Jack, Michael, Elizabeth, and Luke; and all his extended family and friends. Donations in his memory may be made through the websites of Fairfield County Hospice House, Nature Conserv-ancy of Connecticut, or Catholic Charities of Fairfield County.
